Our name, Red Alder (red awl-der), is inspired by the resilient tree species native to the coast—known for its ability to work symbiotically with others and vastly improve its environment.

Jamie Caskey
Owner | Founder
Jamie, the founder of Red Alder Electric, brings over two decades of hands-on experience to his craft. He began his journey with Lions Electric in West Vancouver, quickly earning the respect of a notoriously demanding mentor. When the company eventually closed its doors, Jamie’s skill and integrity stood out—so much so that he was entrusted with the company’s clients and inspired to launch Red Alder Electric, which has continued to establish deep roots in high end residential work, with a reputation for meticulouscraftsmanship.
Before making the switch to the trades, Jamie earned a forestry degree and spent years working in the woods – so it’s no surprise that Red Alder’s name reflects connection to BC’s landscapes. A dedicated mountain biker and skier, he’s called Squamish home since 2013 and doesn’t plan on leaving anytime soon.
Gavin Hume
Owner | Partner
Gavin has spent over two decades working at the intersection of technical systems and business operations, with experience spanning building automation, energy, and infrastructure. He holds a Diploma of Technology in Automation and Control and a Bachelor of Commerce, and began his career in building automation, gaining hands-on experience with how complex buildings operate in the real world. Gavin then spent nearly 20 years in the energy technology sector, including his time with Enbala through its acquisition by Generac, providing first-hand experience working within a high-growth company that became part of a large multinational organization.
A Squamish resident since 2006, Gavin enjoys the Sea-to-Sky lifestyle and outdoor pursuits year-round. After years of friendship, Gavin and Jamie began working together professionally in 2025, and drawn by the strong foundation Jamie built, Gavin joined Red Alder as a full partner in December 2025 to help guide the company’s next phase of growth. Outside of work, he’s a proud husband and father of two teenage boys.
